OMD3Nails Day 2: Peach

Hi, Ladies!

Today I have spent hours and hours thinking of a mani that uses Peach + anything but Gold.  I ended up doing the P & G because I couldn't pretend I would be happy with anything else.  I love how delicate gold goes with peach.  I mean, who can go wrong with that combination? It's just classy.

Here, I did a gradient of China Glaze White On White, Color Club Hot Hot Hot Pants, and Essie Peach Side Babe.  I stamped over an image from OB Nail XXL G plate.  I added OPI Love. Angel. Music. Baby for an accent color.  I topped everything with Girl Stuff Magic Matte.  Take a look:

Ok, honestly, how did you find it?  Please let me know!

Ciao!

Day 4: Green Nails #31DC2014

Hi, Ladies!

So, today's prompt says Green and the design just popped in mind.  I wanted a mud-ish dirty look with some leaves on it, so I browsed through my image plates (although my stamping skill is as unreliable as my free-hand) and came up with this:

I now have a new favorite nude base: Girl Stuff Forever Sophia.  I Seran Wrapped Color Club Fondue For Two (which I got from Polish In The City), then stamped using MoYou London Artist 04 and Mundo De Unas 38.  My pinkie and index fingers have China Glaze Shore Enuff.  I used OPI Matte Top Coat for everything.

How did you do with yours?

Take care,

Jamie

#TheHeartRemembersMani

Hi, Ladies!

I've had a rough August, so I barely posted (or did I even?).  But today is another month, and another story.  I have at least made space to breathe and make manis.

To start, @cmlovesnails started a hashtag called #theheartremembersmani to raise people's awareness on Alzheimer's using purple-colored manis.  I loved what she used for her hashtag.  It makes me remember my grandma who used to suffer the same disease. The heart truly remembers. Thank you, @cmlovesnails.

Here are my #theheartremebersmani /s:

This was using Flormar polish n009 for the base.  The glittered polish was Misslyn in Sexy Love which I got as a prize from Selina's giveaway.  I used Winstonia's W207 plate for the middle finger.

This was OPI's Do You Have This Color In Stock-Holm? from their Nordic Collection, which I bought from PolishPleasePH.  The other colors were from China Glaze's Offshore Collection.

I used OPI's Do You Have This Color In Stock-Holm? again, with China Glaze Dune Our Thing (pinkie and splatter), and Nailed Polish by Sleek Makeup in Lilac for the base.

Lastly, Girl Stuff Forever's Stardust and Wild Berries for this one.

All manis used Seche Top Coat.

All that aside, I am looking to do the #31dc2014 this September!  Have a good one!

My Top Ten Favorite Nail Polish

Hi, Ladies!

You would think I would have more time this July, eh?  It took me a whole month to think things through.  Somebody asked me what my favorite nail polish was, and I could not, for the life of me, give an answer.  So I thought about it well and hard, and decided to give you ladies a list of my top ten.  And this was excruciatingly difficult. (Plus the fact that I also decided to use the polishes in a challenge.)

So, here goes (in no particular order):

Zoya Tomoko:  My travel go-to polish as it does not need a base nor a top coat.  A textured, elegant gold I can wear casually or during formal occasions.  I can never go wrong with this.

OPI Kiss Me I'm Brazilian:  This is a bright pastel pink that kind of comes off a little neon, if I may say so.  It looks good both on short and long nail beds.

OPI An Affair in Red Square:  This is my go-to red polish since 2005.  This is actually my 4th bottle since.  If I cannot decide on what color to wear,  I just pick this one up.  I used to have really short nails before, and this one looks spunky on it, but also elegant on longer nails. I love this so much!

Picture Polish Honey Dew:  This is a bright mint color that looks so clean and fresh.  I love that it's a light color but is not at all streaky.  This also got me my record-holding MOST likes on Instagram.  I guess everybody likes it, too.

Zoya Kitridge: This is my most-loved baby pink polish.  It is so girly and pretty at the same time.  I love that it's so easy to apply, and is opaque in two coats.

Polish Me Silly Alter Ego:  This is a multichrome that shifts from purple to blue to pink, and at some angles, a little gold.  This is gorgeous beyond words.

Zoya Pippa: I honestly never thought I would have a favorite yellow, because yellow wasn't my type when I was younger.  But this one, is just bright and easy to apply, that I cannot help but love it.  Most yellow polishes are streaky, but this one isn't at all. It doesn't make my skin look pale or awkward, so I heart it!

KBShimmer She Twerks Out: This is a blue-green magical polish.  The glitters in it are varying in sizes and and color (different shades of greens and blues), but everything reminding me of an enchanted forest.  This is my favorite KBShimmer!

NCLA I'm With The Band:  This is a super bright red-orange with gold undertones.  I love it because it is elegantly playful.  My camera couldn't capture the gold undertones really well, but it is very visible IRL.

Zoya Dream:  This is a jelly blue polish with specks of holographic glitters.  2-3 coats will make it opaque.  It reminds me of the sky when the stars are out.

How about you?  Can you please tell me your favorite polish?

PS, I would like to thank Monica of Polish Please PH for supplying me with all of these nail polish.  Polish Please PH is my Heisenberg, kind of.  I get hold of the latest collections, hard-to-find colors and brands, because of her.  I don't know what my life would be without her feeding my addiction.   Every transaction is fast and smooth.

*Please don't forget to click on the link or go to www.polishplease.ph to check on her store, I believe there are a few items ON SALE!*

Thank you for your time!

#fsnailartchallegemay

Hi, Ladies!

How have you been?  Well, I thought I will be less busy this month, but seems like my calendar's filled to the end.

Here's a late post of the challenge I did with my group, #filipinails.  I was busy the whole month of May, so I could only do simple manis.

For the first challenge, it was #floral.

This was inspired by @adelislebron.  I used Essie Go Ginza, which I got from Polish Please.

Then I had to do an #abstract design.  This is as abstract as I can get.  I am not very artistic, you see.  So I used a yellow base for this mani, and I apologize if I totally forgot which. (Either Zoya Pippa or the Tony Moly polish I have.) And then I used some random acrylic colors and used the toothbrush technique to kind of splatter the colors in.

And, please, feel free to laugh at this #skyline mani.  Everyone else was doing Paris, or something romantic and I couldn't put myself into doing those.  I chose a Godzilla which turned out perfectly...like Barney. :((

For the #inspiredby mani, I chose Ada 's leopard+swoosh mani.  I couldn't do her swoosh mani properly so please head on to her account to check her great nail art.  I used Lofes pink and blue for this.

I promise to take note of all the polish I use next time.  It's just that this #galaxy mani got me to bring out a lot of dark, light and glittering polishes that I wasn't able to track every one of them.  This is my 3rd (or 4th) galaxy nails ever.  I still need to practice some more to be able to perfect it.  That's Essie's Sparkle on Top I'm holding, in case you're interested, and got it from Polish Please.

And probably my least favorite technique, but absolutely my favorite mani from this challenge: #tape.  I used OPI's Neon Revolution for this.

All manis used Seche Vite.

Wish you all a good June! Hopefully I can make more manis this month.

Love you long time,

Jamie

I Couldn't Help It. I Fell In Love With Morgan Taylor.

Hi, Ladies!

I'm back!  Remember when I first tried Morgan Taylor polish from Beauty Kingdom and fell in love with it?  Well, I couldn't help but buy a few more bottles when I went back to 168 last week.

I promise I tried (at least I did) to avoid the glitter polishes but maaaan, it was too hard.  But good thing is, I also got a couple of creme bottles to try.

So, this one is a gorgeous lavender color that dries semi-matte, and it's called "Invitation Only".  The square crystal studs are also from the store.

This little baby turquoise bottle here, is hard to find.  I tell you, weeks before going to the store, I messaged the Boss to reserve a bottle for me, and he said he didn't have it.  When I got to the store, I looked at his swatch book to check out colors that I wanted, and didn't see this.  But looking at the actual stock rack, I came across this baby, alone, without a name in the book, and wanting a mommy. I HAD TO TAKE IT IN. I had to.  I loved it the first time I saw it on Morgan Taylor's Instagram Account.  You better believe I teared a little when I held it in my hand.  "Lost In Paradise" (but it was, literally, in that polish rack)

"Best Dressed" is a frosted red that shifts a little gold and a little orange.  Perfect for a formal night out, as the name suggests. The gold ribbon accent was also from the store.

"J'adore My Mani" looked similar to "Best Dressed" in the bottle, but I had to take them both home to try, and only to find out that this one is a deep fuchsia glitter that is both sweet and elegant.  How can I not love them all?
"Sweetest Thing" indeed.  This reminded me of OPI's limited Katy Perry edition "Teenage Dream" with its pink and holographic glitters.
Last but definitely not the least, "Fame Game" is a holographic glitter polish.  I recreated thejuiceboxlacquer's rose-tipped mani for this swatch.  This is a one-coater but is so magical.

To cap it off, Morgan Taylor is definitely worth all the love I give it.  The colors are all easy to apply, plus I like that the brush is a little hard but dense (it doesn't split from the bunch, if you know what I mean).  My only regret with the trip I made was that I ONLY GOT SIX BOTTLES when I could've gotten more.  I mean for the SRP of 408, and get 30% discount from the Boss???  GO GRAB YOURSELF MORE THAN A COUPLE.  Tell the Boss you deserve that 30% discount, but hurry because I don't know when the promo ends!

All these manis were finished with Seche Vite, of course, also from the store.  And all items were purchased using my own money.  (Well, I wish I could get freebies next time, Boss, eh?) <--Lol, kidding.

Oh, and PS? I couldn't pick a favorite because I love them all equally.

Ciao, Carabao!

Work-Appropriate Nudes and Pinks

Hi,  Ladies!
I'm going to try to blog using my phone today.  Let's see how clean this blog can get.
I have a few work-appropriate colors from OPI here for you.
First off: Otherwise Engaged.  This was 3 thin coats of a very light pink with bluish shimmer.   I actually don't see the shimmer much after application, although the bottle seemed like it had.  I can totally see this one being used as a base color for some special-occasion-French.

And then, here are Hopelessly in Love (pinky & ring) and Coney Island Cotton Candy (middle & index):

Hopelessly in Love is a rather creme-y Peach nude.  I used 3 coats for this, and it was a tad streaky, so be careful to use thin ones when using it.  Coney Island Cotton Candy is a sheer peach. Clean after 3 thin coats.

I swatched them beside each other because I thought they looked so much the same from the bottle. That's CICC on the left, and HIL on the right.  Well, this picture doesn't really show how similar they look in person, but you know what I mean. :)

This is (L-R) Dulce de Leche, Barefoot in Barcelona, DdL, BiB.

Two coats of Dulce de Leche made it even more obvious that it is the lighter of the two.  In the bottle, it had a slight hint of silver shimmer but did not show after application.  Barefoot in Barcelona is the darker kind-of old rose-y nude color, 2 coats in.

Again, I took a shot of them side-by-side because the colors looked similar from the bottle. That's Barefoot in Barcelona on the left, Dulce de Leche on the right.

Ok, here I do not think they look the same but just wanted to swatch them beside each other: It's A Girl and Hawaiian Orchid.

This was 3 thin coats of It's A Girl, a sheer baby pink.  And then 2 coats of Hawaiian Orchid which was a pink with blue-toned shimmer.

Cosmo-not Tonight Honey! is a gold-toned frosted nude color.  This was 2 coats, easy application!  I don't think you can go wrong with this!

2 coats of Chicago Champagne Toast showed that it's a pinkish-red chrome color.  It was opaque in 1 coat but I had to put another layer to smoothen out my strokes.  Make sure you have clean, buffed nails when using this color because it emphasizes your nail bed's imperfection.

And lastly, Taupe-less Beach is, what else? A taupe-y nude that's super easy to apply, really opaque in 2 coats.

All the swatches were made without top coat.

I hope this helps you pick a few colors for work!  So, what's your favorite?

Love you long time,

Jamie

A Couple of Besties

Eh, hey, hey, girls!

I have been out a few days doing some paperwork so I wasn't able to update you on here.

I was supposed to post back-to-back bestie twin nails with @ayabananna but was only able to do so on my Instagram.

Aya was the one who made this very dainty design, perfect for Spring / Summer!  I fell in love with this instantly!

Don't you agree?  I mean, even with my lousy recreation, lol, I still like it!!  I used Essie Tart Deco (orange), OPI Fiercely Fiona (yellow), and a combination of OPI Don't Bossa Nova Around & Ski Slope Sweetie for the bases, and then acrylic paints.  I forgot to use a matte top coat, so I used my usual Seche Vite.

And, my solo:

And then the day after, I did another bestie, but this time with @bhagzcy08.  She threw in her design and I obviously liked it so I did it soon as I could.  It reminds me of Juicy Fruit and Double Mint Gum combo.  Jen was also the one who designed our collage.  Thanks again, Jen!!! <3

Simple but summer-y leopard print mani.  I used Color Club Twiggie and OPI Fiercely Fiona, acrylic paint and Seche Vite Top Coat. :)

Hopefully I can use my Saturday and Sunday to do nail art.  Otherwise, I just might swatch my untrieds.

Goodnight!

Love you long time,

Jamie

A Kind-Of-Busy Saturday

Hi, Ladies!

I have been busy doing manis today.

Started my day by swatching OPI's Muppets World Tour over Orly's Dare to Bare:

I had a hard time painting Dare to Bare on my cinderella hand, plus the fact that I was rushing, but Muppets World Tour covered it all up.  It was such a magical bottle of white glitters with some silver, metallic blue and pink glitters here and there.  I tell you, I am not huge on glitter polishes because I always have a hard time scooping the glitters out.  This MWT (Muppets World Tour) though, the glitters just go with the brush.  It was so easy to apply, I feel like using this all the time (next time on a different base color, of course.)

And then I felt the need to swatch what my BFF Goddess Uy gave me as Christmas Gifts:

These are Ruby Wing Electric Firefly (yellow) and Groupie (pink).  May I just say that I am soooooo in love with them???  Look at what it shows up as indoors (left picture) and then outdoors (right picture).  Isn't it just awesome?!  I mean, I have heard so much about Ruby Wing polishes but I have never thought of buying them because I never knew they had neons (sucker for neons here.)  So, from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU, Goddess!

Again, the indoor shot:

And the outdoor:

And then I was off to do a bestie mani with Ayabananna.  I asked her to design a mani for us to do, and she came up with this design, which frankly, was tiresome for me because I suck at striping tapes...BUT I am sooooo glad that Aya agreed to do one with me, so I had to make an effort to do it half as good as hers.  Thanks, again, Aya, for such a wonderful blue mani so apt for April being Autism Awareness Month.  Aya also did the collage for us, so I was mainly sitting lazily here.

Solo shot:

I used Korean brand Lofes #646 for the pinkie, Tony Moly ME05 for the silver, Essie  Borrowed and Blue for the lightest blue, Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Blue-Away, and then OPI Eurso Euro for the middle finger.  Bought the studs from a night market in Canada, but there are a lot of studs sellers online.  Seche Vite top coat, of course.

And after all that, I was able to do an easter mani, which turned out funny-looking.  I have zero (0) talent drawing anything, so I apologize for this:

I just used Lofes #114 for the base because my Skin Food's retiring on me.  The rest are acrylic paints.  Seche Vite top coat.

WHEW!  I bored you, didn't I?

Enjoy your Sundays, everyone!

Love you long time,

Jamie

Animals for Kids

Hi, Ladies!

It's Friday night and I'm stuck at home with my little princess.  We were watching Land Before Time and I suddenly decided to do an Animal Mani for her.  Well, not exactly ON her nails, but she was watching me do these simple (yes, that's the only thing I can execute) nail arts.

I did one on each nail.  Here they are:

On the seal:  Skin Food BW704, Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Blue Away and Black Acrylic Paint.

On the (supposed) duck:  Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Lightening, OPI You Don't Know Jacques!, Skin Food BW704 and Black Acrylic Paint.

On the frog: Revlon Posh, Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Lickety-Split Lime, Skin Food BW 704 and Black Acrylic Paint.

On the monkey:  OPI You Don't Know Jacques!, OPI Don't Bossa Nova Me Around, Skin Food BW704 and Black Acrylic Paint.

I used Seche Vite Top Coat, as usual.

I bought my Skin Food polish in Korea, but most SM Malls have Skin Food Boutiques.  My Sally Hansens I got from Canada's Shopper's Drugmart.  Revlon polish was from PCX.  My OPI polishes are from Polish Please PH.

I love all of these polishes because they are all so easy to apply. (Plus the Sally Hansen Insta-Dri polish is true to its name.  It dries really quick.) Except maybe for the Skin Food one because it's all used up and gloopy now at half the bottle.

Oh, before I forget, I used the animal inspiration from some notebooks that I saw before.  I just forgot where.  I will update if I remember.

Hope you like 'em!  My daughter does.  (She better like it or else!!! LOL!)

Have a good weekend!

Love you long time,

Jamie

Bestie and Another

So, my fellow Filipinails member, Aiza Mamales, proposed a bestie with anyone and I grabbed the opportunity.  She made me choose the design we were going to recreate, and I stumbled upon Autumn Nicole @justagirlandhernails' watercolor mani.  We agreed to do it right away!

Here's Aiza's (@icelovesnailpolish) solo shot:

And here's mine:

Obviously, I didn't do too well again, because the "watercolored" flower looked abstract. Lol!

I used China Glaze's Bottoms Up (pink), Skinfood BW704 (white), and acrylic paint.

Anyway, here's the bestie mani collaged:

Thanks again, Aiza, for doing this with me.  I am honored to be doing nail art with such an awesome nail artist as you.

Aaaaand because I am an insomniac, I was just staring into my computer and went ahead and did another stamping.  You will laugh so hard because I didn't bother re-doing / covering the failed parts.

Tadaaaaa! I was inspired by my computer. Tsk.

So I used Revlon's Posh for the green, OPI's Golden Rules!, Crystal brand black polish, and BK white polish + the Bundle Monster BM-415 plate (Thanks again, Mae Espiritu.)  I had better be practicing 28,000 more times to be able to perfect the stamping technique.  And I need all your tips as to what polishes work well for stamping.  The OPI was the best I could come up with.  I tried Essie's Penny Talk but it dried up too fast the stamper couldn't get the image.  Sparitual's Gold Digger wasn't opaque enough.

Oh well, that's it for today!  Have a good start to your April!

Love you long time,
 Jamie
